Guided Meditation – Meditation State
“Every age has its greatest discovery, the greatest of all is inside of us”
“If you could wake up tomorrow feeling your heart wide open, your mind clear and fresh, and with your worries and problems suddenly appearing easily manageable – and all that, as a perpetual that you can’t pay for, or run away for – wouldn’t you take a minute to find out how it would be possible?”
Sahaja Yoga Meditation is easy to learn and below steps will help in first time experience. It takes around 4 minutes to complete these simple steps. We recommend you to read through the steps before starting the meditation experience.
During the experience, you need to keep your left hand with palm upwards on the lap and to place right hand on various parts of the left side of your body (which are the locations of different energy centers) and say affirmations (the acknowledgment of energy center’s qualities). For best results, do them slowly.
When you are ready to begin, sit upright and relaxed, cross legged on the floor, without shoes. You may sit on the chair (if not comfortable with cross legged position), then place your feet a little apart from each other.
Take a few slow, deep breaths. This will help you to relax and meditate better.
1.Right hand to the heart, say confidently twelve times
“Mother[Note], I am the spirit”
2.Right hand at the point where the left shoulder meets the neck. Turn the head to the right and say sixteen times
“Mother, I am not guilty”
3.Place your right hand across the forehead, and say
“Mother, I forgive everyone”
4.Right hand on the back of the head, say
“Mother, for any mistakes I have done against myself, please forgive me”
5.Right hand on top of the head, stretch the fingers upwards, centre of the palm on the fontanel area, slowly rotate clockwise and ask seven times
“Mother please give me my self-realisation”
[Note: Meaning Kundalini, the mothering energy of Nature, located above the bottom of the spine.]
You could also receive Self Realisation by following the steps along with Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi:
After the Experience
Raise your right hand about six inches over your head, palm down. Slowly move your hand up and down until you feel an energy, possibly warm or cool coming from top of your head. You might feel gentle tingling, a cool or warm sensation on finger tips and palm. If you do not feel it or are uncertain, simply sit with your hands on the lap and observe what you are feeling inside.
Sit quietly for approximately 5-10 minutes with eyes closed. Without trying, without effort, notice the mental silence – how your thoughts have calmed. If a thought does pop into your head, let it rise and fall away, avoid forcing to stop your thoughts. You may say ‘Not this thought’ few times.
This is the first stage of meditation – thoughtless awareness – where you are fully alert but without any thoughts, in a state of pure and peaceful consciousness. Initially it might be only for few seconds but eventually it will increase more and more with regular meditation. Learning Sahaja Meditation is no different than acquiring any other new skill. It takes practice and some initial guidance. We recommend you to attend our meditation classes which are free of charge to learn and experience more.
